Going into our second tournament this month, the new NMJFC under 10s were really excited to be back playing again.
In a group with some familiar teams that we’ve met already last season, we knew this wasn’t going to be a walk in the park.
With only eight minutes per match, The boys knew they didn’t really have time to settle in to each match and they knew they just had to get on with the job.
Dukinfield Youth B were first up and the team held there own, couple of chances but finished 0-0
Springhead Ultras next and it was Bobby G who got us off the mark to secure a 1-0 win
Tintwistle Ath Blacks next and a great game with Stan V hitting the net 1-0
Haughton Green Whites were next in an end to end battle finishing 0-0
Failsworth Utd Black were our final team in the group. We were showing signs of fatigue in this game as the heat from the mid day sun was beating down. Lost this one 2-0.
Through to the quarter finals as highest 3rd placed team.
Played this quarter final (15mins) against Tintwistle Ath Blues with some pure determination to win, and we did 1-0.
Failsworth Utd Blacks again for the semi final. Scores level at full time meant a dreaded penalty shootout. Best of 3 penalties with Bobby G, Darragh O and Dan W all breaking the net ⚽️⚽️⚽️. Harry G in goal did enough to distract the penalty taker for their first meaning we were through to “The Final”
Played Dukinfield Youth who came out on top, winning the end to end battle 2-0.👏🏻👏🏻
The NMJFC team were asked at the start of the day to work hard for each other and give 100% of which they did just that.
Super proud of each of them and looking forward to the 21/22 season.
