Match report NMJFC Under 13s - 19/12/21

New Mills Juniors V Richmond Rovers Blues

Frosty start for the 2nd round of knockout Cup games for our U13s this morning and with a depleted squad, due to last minute illnesses, game plans previously made had to be thrown out and re-thought quicky.

With changes in usual positions and a new formation to try out the team had to work hard together to play to the best of their abilities.

Today, luckily for us, it paid off!

Looking to improve on their last performance the boys started well and were rewarded early doors.

Lots of forward attacking play and when needed on the counter great defensive awareness, that for much of the game kept the opposition at bay.

Some lovely individual performances too that helped to see everything included in today's team game plan was implemented.

Even the half time team talk was led by the children and how they wanted the second half to pan out.

Hard work clearly pays off!

The only thing I ask is these teenagers smile after a win! HA!

Playing out of his usual position as keeper to centre back,today he read the game so well and bossed the back line. His awareness and multiple clearances deservedly earnt him todays title...kids choice too..and after all it's their game!🏆
