Hurdsfield 2 Vs 5 New Mills U14s

The boys were away playing in Macclesfield @ 4.00 pm.

Even though the kick off was late the boys certainly were not! They got straight down to business. New Mills were competing for every ball and giving it everything as always & playing some lovely football.

Against the run of play the hosts took an early lead with a cross into the box for the striker to tap in 1-0. Being behind so early in the game shows their maturity, a time ago the lads would have let their heads go down but they didn’t, they dusted themselves down and got back to work.

5 minutes later the boys won possession, a lovely through ball by Harvey to William who then dispatched with no problem to make it 1-1.

The middle of the park was dominated by Declan ,Joe, Tom, Max & Matheus. Max was causing havoc with his forward thinking running too. A quick substitution brought Devah on for Matheus, and what an inspired substitution it was too! Devah won the ball on the right hand side of the pitch, he ran 15 yds beating 2 defenders before unleashing an exocet rocket off his left boot, 20 yards out and in off the cross bar for a magical goal Half time 1-2.

The 2nd half began and both teams was competitive. The home teams striker broke away and ran into the box, who was caught slightly late by the centre half which resulted in a penalty, the ball was dispatched to make the score 2-2…Game on!

The Millers back 3 of Nate, Gene & Luke didn't let this affect their game though! With all 3 putting in a commanding performance at the back.

New Mills went looking for a quick reply, attacking at a blistering burst of pace, Devah crossed the ball to the back post for Luca to tap home his first league goal of the season, straight off the training ground! 2-3 . Hurdsfield pressed and gave it a good go, testing Logan on a number of occasions who pulled off a couple of outstanding saves to keep New Mills in the lead. Ruben was introduced on the left side of midfield and he showed his versatility working tirelessly.

The next goal in this tie was crucial. Harvey was fed through by Declan, he beat two defenders before smacking it into The onion bag what a great goal 2-4 to the Millers !

Hurdsfields had put in a great performance and should be proud of themselves.

New Mills was in the driving seat and with the clock ticking down there was time for one more goal. With William robbing the ball, beating a couple of men before smashing a left foot shot into the bottom right hand corner for his 2nd goal of the game and The Millers 5th.

Such breath taking, fantastic and brilliant performance by this talented New Mills side. Great work rate and team ethic, roll on next week!

A big thanks to the parents for there continued support as always 👏🏻.

We only do POSITIVE ⚽️💛🖤
