Match report NMJFC Under 14s girls - 14/11/21

Queensgate U14 Girls 6-4 NMJFC U14 Girls

A minutes silence for remembrance day started proceedings which was impeccably observed by all.

A thrilling game of football followed. New Mills played some good football and were working hard as a team to defend. They found themselves 1 down from an unfortunate OG. The girls hit back instantly when Niamh G played a lobbed through ball to Maddie who used her pace to beat the defenders and score. New Mills created a couple more good chances in the 1st half but Queensgate took the lead in controversial circumstances with the referee judging a ball had dropped over the line despite all New Mills Girls adamant it didn't. This made half time a little difficult as they struggled to focus on anything but the perceived injustice. It showed also at the beginning of the second half when Queensgate scored a 3rd from a corner. Once again New Mills scored immediately to reduce the arrears with Maddie slotting past a onrushing keeper. New Mills now fully focused on the game got level with some lovely build up play and Olivia scored from the edge of the area. Queensgate scored 2 quickfire goals, 1 from some nice football and 1 from some scrappy football (ping pong). New Mills continued to battle and Maddie forced a mistake from the opposition keeper when she charged a kick down which she blocked and it went in to secure a hat trick ⚽️⚽️⚽️. The girls had 2 glorious chances to score and both Isla and Niamh G were really unfortunate not to score. Queensgate manged to get a sixth with the last kick of the game. A performance to be proud of from the girls, most goals scored in a single match. A shout out for the performance of Morgan today who had her best match for the team and the Queensgate coach had praise for Isla.

GOG went to Ella today, worked hard in midfield in the 1st half, moved to the wing in the 2nd half and was a threat getting 1 assist and worked well getting back to help out.
