Great Moor U14 Girls 4 -1 NMJFC U14 Girls
An early start for the girls this morning away at Davenport Playing Fields. An outstanding performance from the team despite the negative scoreline, where very small margins cost them a positive result.
1st half saw Great Moor have more of the football but New Mills were defensively solid throughout the half. Great Moor went 1 up from a quickly taken throw in and a cut back to pass into the net. It was soon 2-0 when the ref gave a penalty which was converted. It was 3-0 before half time when there was a mixup between a couple of the girls. New Mills did have some opportunities with some really good play down the wings and were unfortunate not to convert a couple of chances.
2nd half saw a superb performance from New Mills. They had control of the ball for much of the half and created many good chances, solid in defence where the mistakes stopped. The New Mills goal came from really good wing play from Isla, beating her marker and playing the ball into Maddie who calmly finished into the bottom corner. Great Moor did score a late goal catching the girls on the counter whilst pushing for another goal.
Excellent work rate from the girls with a fantastic effort.
GOG went to Isla, brilliant on the wing, had the beating of her opponent all game and tracked back to defend really well, a good assist for the goal.
Keep up the good work girls.
