Match report - NMJFC Under 15s - 8th April 2021

New Mills 3 v 4 Marple Athletic Reds

After a good performance against Cheadle at weekend New Mills were looking to get another win against a strong Marple team.

After a slow start New Mills slowly grew into the half but nothing seemed to be coming off and found it difficult playing against the wind. Marple then got a goal to take them 1-0 up going in to half time.

After a few changes at half time the boys started to click in to gear but soon found themselves 2-0 down against the run of play. That was until excellent work upfront from Jack Fitton gave Lucas a close range finish after the keeper spilt Jack's cross. Not long after the scores were level at 2-2 after a free kick from new signing Connor was deflected into their own net by a Marple defender. The boys were really back in the game now and took the lead from a great ball from keeper Baggy to put Connor through who brilliantly lobbed the keeper for his second of the match. A few moremissed chances from New Mills proved costly as 2 late goals from Marple ended with defeat for the Millers. A game in which both teams played some really good football and was a great match for the watching supporters. Excellent performance from all the boys again and Cian having yet another good game in midfield earning him MOM.
