MATCH REPORT NMJFC Under 7s - 28th January 2023
12 o’clock kick against Great Moor JFC at Brinnington.
Spirits were high after a good team performance last weekend, however having played Great Moor earlier on in the season, we knew they were a tough, well organised team.
Great moor started strong forcing some good defensive moves from Tobias, and testing our goal keeper James.
There was a strong midfield battle with Great Moor, Teddy and Charlie doing a great job of getting the ball forward to Paige so we could attack.
More pressure forced some changes and with Stanley coming on, the game was immediately changed.
Some excellent team work, with Teddy converting a half chance into a perfectly placed goal.
More passing followed with a bit more composure on the ball, we were rewarded with some really good football and Stanley got on the scoreboard twice.
After the break Great Moor came back strong and we were unlucky to concede some goals.
The game was really beginning to heat up now with both sides wanting the win, Stanley got a penalty, which he slotted away perfectly to keep us in the game.
A few more changes let us see Rhys in defence taking no punishment from Great Moor and standing firm.
Some good tackles from Paige also, who played a bit deeper in the second half.
Player of the match deservingly went to Stanley. No matter how many times he was taken down, they simply couldn’t stop him today. Excellent work Stanley !
It was a real pleasure to watch the hunger in all the players - Wanting to succeed, whilst staying disciplined.
Very proud of you all. Well done New Mills !
