A glorious morning at Glossopdale with the sun shining and the kids in great form for another battle with our neighbours down the road at Hayfield. After a week off and a couple of missed training sessions we were hoping our teams progression wasn’t going to be halted due to a lack of football . . . . . . . . . . Not a bit of it!
Stanley offered to go in goal first half and did a great job. Concentrating & listening, he built the foundation for the outfield players to go and express themselves. Well done Stanley!
New Mills Blacks were outstanding and from the very start they took control of the game, and once again showed the parents watching how much they have come on this year. Passing the ball around in their own half, shifting it forward at the right moment, and running into space up-front. Then the goals followed!
Albie hit an absolute blinder from distance to get us going. Oliver B was on fire and once again and ran his little socks off up-front, forcing Hayfield back and then getting the rewards for his hardwork.
We were constantly making changes to get the kids some match-time and they all delivered today and played tremendously! Sam was brilliant and he was winning the ball back in defence and passing it forward so NM Blacks could get back on the attack. It was great to watch.
Second-Half – Sam takes the gloves & goes in goal.
Hayfield got themselves back in the match and we had to work hard to win the ball back and start playing our game again. This was the period of the match to be solid at the back and there was a few moments when we got peppered by Hayfields attack but every single time, Sam made another save to keep them out! Fantastic goalkeeping Sam!
The greatest moment of the game was just upon us . . . . Finley broke forward and had to run almost the full length of the pitch on the counter attack and drilled the ball into the bottom corner. What a goal !!
The shackles were off now and NM Blacks seen the game home comfortably. Oliver B completed his hat-trick and Albie bagged another one.
