v Chinley Whites
Cup Finals day at Silverlands, Buxton saw The Hawks face a competitive Chinley side for the Monsal Head Cup.
The team showed absolutely everything they had in their locker to come out on top and pick up the silverware in their first ever season playing football.
5 goals from the goal machine Leo ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ gave all of our fantastic supporters lots to cheer about but it was the display from them all as a team and a unit which got them there in the end.
⚽️ Joe Marsden aka Safe Hands Joe - pulled off some fantastic saves and further staked his claim as our number 1 and captained the side for this final.
⚽️ Liam Smith - An absolute brick wall in defence, never stopped running and put in one of his best performances all season on the day.
⚽️ Shea Bailey - Like a little bulldog, constantly applying pressure when Chinley were in possession and holding a good partnership at the back with Liam to keep the opposition out.
⚽️ Ella Hardman - Absolute warrior of a player. Never stops giving it her all every time she plays. Never hides away from a challenge and takes the game to her opponent always.
⚽️ Harley Bailey - Harley’s pace and confidence has grown incredibly throughout the season and his desire to drive forward and attack every time he’s on the ball is fantastic to see.
⚽️ Kian Adrio - Kian works really hard every time he’s on the pitch. He loves to listen to instructions and always works his socks off to deliver. Joining in with attacks and getting back to defend, he’s an awesome team player.
⚽️ Leo Petters - Goal Machine. Every time this boy gets the ball he wants to do one thing - hit the back of the net. His size and pace give him the platform he needs to do this; add his excellent striking ability in the mix and there’s no stopping him. 47 goals scored this season.
⚽️ Brooke Crossland - Brooke has missed a big chunk of the season due to a knee injury and we’ve missed her greatly. She’s got such an intelligent footballing brain which you can see every time she plays. Great on the ball and great awareness with a lethal finish on her. We welcomed her back for the Cup Final with a few minutes at the end and we are all excited to have her back next season.
This group of players are a joy to work with every single week. It’s because of these guys and the fantastic support and commitment of their families that make my job as their coach worth every second and I can’t thank them all enough.
We now take a short break and get ready for next season as Under 8s.
Well done Hawks. I’m proud of every single one of you!
