Match report NMJFC Under 9s Falcons - 09/10/22
Looking to build on last week’s performance, the Falcons were up against Whaley Bridge at Glossopdale this morning.
More of the same were the instructions to the team, with a mindful eye on a couple of the Whaley Bridge players who we knew were very good.
The game started at a good pace but like last week, it was the opposition who started to get on top. It was a physical game, with some tough tackling, but the Falcons didn’t give up and finished the first half strongly.
With goals at both ends in the first half, a change in formation came for the Falcons in the second half - and one the team have never played before. Risky - but it worked, with the Falcons cutting out more of the forward runs from Whaley Bridge and getting more of the ball through our midfield into attack.
Another great game for the spectators today and one the Falcons can be proud of - so many positives again.
Awesome goals from Alfie ⚽️⚽️⚽️
Special mention to today’s captain, Lucas, who has moved into starting in midfield the last couple of games. His tackling and passing needed to be on point today - and it was.
Finally, a huge well done to Poppy who deservedly won our player of the match trophy today. Moving back into defence for the first half, using her pace and passing to help move the team up the pitch. Then switching to her favoured attacking role, linking up well with her team mates to create more chances for the team. Well done Poppy - you were ace today!
Roll on next week!
