Match report NMJFC Under 9s Falcons - 16/10/22
With a third of the Falcons squad unavailable, we had to call for support for this morning’s derby against the NMJU9 Hawks at Glossopdale.
Due to teams in our age group being split into two last season, it’s been over a year since the Falcons had played the Hawks and everyone was looking forward to this one!
As you’d expect from a derby, the game started at a fast pace with both teams competing for every ball and creating early chances at both ends.
The first half went by like a flash with nothing separating the teams. The second half was exactly the same - the energy levels didn’t dip with both teams working tirelessly to try and get on top. There was excellent tackling all over the pitch, with both goalkeepers making outstanding saves too.
At the end of the game, everyone agreed it was a hard fought, entertaining game between two teams who matched each other all the way.
Falcons goals today were a wonderful hat-trick from Alfie - including an outrageous lob from near the halfway line ⚽️⚽️⚽️
Huge shout out to the Hawks - it was great to play them again and see how they’ve developed.
Thanks to Archie, Frankie and Brooke who supported us today - you were all ace.
Special mention to todays captain Henry. Liking to play in different positions, this works when we need to be flexible in the team. In the first half, Henry played on the right side of midfield and used the space to his advantage making some great forward runs. Then in the second half, he listened to instructions and went up front where his pressing was excellent.
But todays player of the match went to Holly. Holly’s never give up attitude was in full force today. Her role as striker in the first half meant lots of pressing and not giving the Hawks defence any time on the ball - and she did that brilliantly. In the second half, Holly played on the left of midfield and displayed not only some great tackling and running, she nearly scored her first goal of the season but her effort went an inch wide of the post. So close!
Well done today team - a fantastic team effort!
