Match Report NMJFC U11 Girls vs FC Bluestar U11 Zodiacs 07/03/2026

Today’s game was one of the girls strongest performances of 2026, from beginning to the end the girls were confident, organised and eager to play good football. In goal, Ava had a really solid game. She looked confident throughout, dealing well with everything that came her way, and made a couple of very good saves to keep the opposition out when they threatened.

In defence, Steve played on the left side and did an excellent job of breaking up play and stopping attacks before they developed. On the right, Paige showed great awareness, making the effort to stay back when needed and cutting out several dangerous moments. She also showed real intelligence with the ball, clearing it up the field to relieve pressure. She even had an ambitious shot from just outside the keeper’s box that travelled the whole way down the pitch, forcing the opposition keeper into a very good save down in the bottom corner.

Just ahead in defensive midfield, Annabella was an absolute menace for the opposition. She worked tirelessly up and down the pitch, constantly disrupting their play and helping us move forward again. It was great to see her take a shot on goal as well after winning the ball back. On the right wing, Millie made some strong runs and did well staying up top, ready and waiting for the ball to be played into space. On the left side, Poppy D covered huge ground, moving up and down the wing and often drifting into the middle to help break up play. Across the pitch there were some really good passes between the girls, including several sharp one-twos that we’ve been working on in training, so it was brilliant to see that coming through in the game.

Up front, Jessica ran her socks off all match. She made several strong runs, constantly putting pressure on the opposition defence and giving them something to think about whenever we pushed forward.

As the game went on, we made some substitutions and Evie came on down the right, Florence took up the left side, Poppy J slotted into defensive midfield and Martha moved up top. All of them worked really hard together straight away, linking up well and creating chances. There were several good efforts on target from the girls and the opposition goalkeeper had to make a number of good saves to keep them out.

By half time our girls were firmly on the front foot. It was really good football, with most of the play taking place in the middle of the park as we controlled possession and worked the ball around well.

After the break, Annabella, Millie, Poppy D and Jessica returned to the pitch. The breakthrough eventually came after more determined play. Annabella once again broke up an opposition attack and drove the ball forward to Millie. Millie then played a pass into Poppy D, who struck a beautiful shot that flew into the back of the net. It was a fantastic goal and a great moment for the team.

Later on we reintroduced Evie, Florence, Poppy J and Martha, and they combined for the goal of the game. Paige broke up play in defence and the ball fell to Evie. She pushed it into the middle to Florence, who spotted Martha’s run and played a wonderful through ball. Martha finished it beautifully, rounding off a superb team move. It was exactly the type of passing football the girls have been working hard on in training.

Every single player worked hard and played their part, and the whole match really felt like a true team performance. The passing, movement and effort from everyone made it a really good game to watch.

Player of the Week went to Martha. She produced some lovely passes, wasn’t afraid to put herself about, made some good tackles, dropped back to help when needed and capped it all with a very well taken goal. A fantastic all-round performance. ⚽👏
