MATCH REPORT- NMJU7 - 18/02/23

MATCH REPORT- NMJU7 - 18th February

An early kick off for New Mills at Brinnington against The Heatons Yellows.

Having colour clashed the last time we played the Heatons, we opted for our black training shirts provided by Tague & Son, Electrical and Joinery, which look great !

New Mills started slow today, giving away an early lead. Throughout the first half the Heatons applied plenty of pressure forcing some great defensive moves from Rhys, and saves from James in goal.

After a few chances, we found some rhythm and Stanley managed to get 2 goals before the break.

We lined up slightly differently after the half time, adding Charlie in midfield with Jackson as striker.

Shortly after this Teddy forced an own goal from the Heatons, and followed this, thanks to some great play from Charlie and Jackson, with another 2 goals in a complete change of play from New Mills.

Spirits were now high and after a couple more changes, Paige was very close with a couple of opportunities, and Stanley managed to repeat his first half tally, with another 2 goals.

The Heatons came back strong in the dying minutes of the game forcing everyone back to help out, and allowing James to showcase his skills in goal once more

A great team performance today, working hard and digging in deep when needed, and then helping each other out to get the result.

Player of the match went to Rhys today. He gave it his all in defence, put in some great tackles and got the ball clear and up the pitch when needed.

Well done New Mills U7’s !
