MATCH REPORT NMJU8 30th September
10:40 kick off for the U8’s at Brinnington in the Stockport Metro League.
This was the 4th game of the season, and we were up against another new team, Didsbury Phoenix.
Both teams agreed to set up with 6 today, so we started with Teddy as striker, Stanley and Charlie J in midfield, Rhys (C) and James in defence, and Charlie T in goal.
New Mills started today well with some superb passing as we have done in recent games, and when it came to Teddy, he produced a powerful low ball which seemed to catch the keeper off guard, and put the Millers up within a few minutes.
The passing continued and New Mills were controlling the game, it wouldn’t be long before our top goal scorer Stanley made it 2, courtesy of a beautifully paced long ball from Rhys.
Didsbury did start to get more of the ball and eventually found there way through, despite our defence doing such a great job.
The game was now end to end with both teams getting another before the break for half time.
After the break, Jackson came on replacing Teddy as striker.
Didsbury also took this time to regroup and started the 2nd half like a different team, catching us out a couple of times and taking the lead for the first time in the game with a very cheeky lob.
A little rotation to give both defenders a rest and we managed to catch a couple of breaks, Stanley showing his skill and sheer determination to get the better of Didsbury.
Another superb team effort today with all kids playing their part.
Charlie T pulling off some very important save’s today.
Rhys and James forming a solid partnership in defence.
Charlie J making some charging runs on the right.
Stanley smashing in another 4.
Teddy and Jackson being a constant problem for them up front.
Player of the match was Rhys today. He was a rock in defence and was unlucky not to get a goal from a couple of well organised corners. Rhys showed his captain spirit today, and continued no matter what until the end to get the result.
Well done U8’s. Another superb performance !
