Match Report - NMJU9 FALCONS - 27/11/22

Perfect conditions at Glossopdale this morning as the Falcons faced Chinley U9’s.

The team have made excellent progress recently and with previous games against Chinley always being entertaining, we were looking forward to this one!

The priorities for the Falcons were to keep up their communication, win those second balls and look to press high up the pitch.

The game started at a great pace, with both teams matching each other across the pitch. Clear cut chances were few and far between in a very tight first half.

After some forced changes towards the end of the first half, the Falcons regrouped at half-time and with a couple of minor changes they went into the second half knowing that they needed to use the space down both wings and more chances will come.

The second half was a completely different story, with both teams taking more risks and moving the ball a lot faster. This meant an unbelievable end to end half of football, where both goalkeepers were called into action making some excellent saves.

At the final whistle, both teams could be proud of their performances and the spectators rightly gave them all a huge cheer.

Fantastic goals today from Lucas (the goal accreditation panel gave him the benefit of the doubt!) ⚽️, Archie ⚽️, Poppy ⚽️ and Alfie ⚽️⚽️

Special mention to today’s captain Angus, who was also our player of the match. Last season’s “most improved player” winner has continued to develop his game. Playing on the right side of midfield, Angus’ discipline to stay in his position and use his space is excellent. His tough tackling and passing was needed today - and he absolutely delivered. And as a real team player, he moved into defence for the final 5 minutes to inject some energy as legs were getting tired.

Well done Falcons you were all superb today - roll on next week!

⚽️🖤💛⚽️
