Match Report - NMJU9 FALCONS - Sunday 20th November
Perfect conditions at Glossopdale this morning as the Falcons were up against Chapel U9 Yellows.
Confidence was high in the team after a good performance last week and the Falcons were keen to build on that, but knew they had to be focussed and at their best straight from kick-off.
After conceding two early goals last week, there was no repeat of that this time. The whole team started the game with blistering pace. Pressing from the front and winning those important second balls, the Falcons were quickly creating chances and putting the opposition under pressure.
From our goalkeeper Oscar, right the way through the team, there was cohesion, communication and energy and it was fantastic to watch. Half-time quickly came around and the team were buzzing as they knew they’d put in a fantastic first half of football.
The question at the start of the second half was could the Falcons keep this up and do the same again?
And the team answered that with a resounding yes! With some team changes during the half to keep the energy levels high, what was great today was seeing the team play the last ten minutes with a new level of maturity to see the game out and making intelligent decisions.
Full-time came and the Falcons rightly came off the pitch delighted with how they performed. Arguably their best performance of the season, they’ve raised the bar and now the challenge is to keep this momentum going.
Excellent goals today from Alfie ⚽️⚽️ and Archie ⚽️⚽️.
The whole team were amazing today - every single one of them playing their part. But special mention to today’s captain Henry, who also deservedly won the player of the match trophy. Henry was our striker today and was tasked to press from each goal kick, give their goalkeeper and defenders no time on the ball and make runs to take their defenders out of position. He absolutely did that and a whole lot more. His hold up play today was immense and he had the confidence to look up and play some excellent passes to his team mates who were supporting him. Well done today Henry - you were brilliant.
Roll on next week!
