The Yellows lined up against Whaley Bridge U11’s at Glossopdale looking to build on how they finished the previous game.
Games against Whaley Bridge are always close and with the wind swirling around the pitch, the Yellows were ready for this one!
The instructions from the coaches at the start were we wanted to see more passing today, use the spaces on the pitch better and communicate with each other.
The Yellows made a brilliant start to the game, doing exactly what was asked of them. The passing was excellent from the start, with a number of 4-5 pass moves creating some early chances - this was fantastic to watch. Henry, Oscar, Riley and Angus linking up really well together.
The energy was excellent in the first half, with the Yellows giving the opposition no time on the ball. Some brilliant tackling frustrating the opposition, with Lucas and Jack leading by example in defence.
A well deserved rest at half-time and the message was clear - more of the same! And that’s exactly what they did.
Whaley made some changes and the second half started evenly with both teams creating good chances. After a quiet first half, Zac our goalkeeper made some excellent saves. Sami, Robbie and Fletcher were playing their part with some excellent interceptions and forward play. And like last week the Yellows kept pushing right until the final whistle, an amazing attitude from this team.
Special mentions today…
⚽️⚽️ Leo finished off some excellent passing moves with two very well taken goals
🏆 Nathan, also our captain for the day, took home the player of the match trophy with an action packed performance. Starting the game in the right side of defence he was an absolute rock in the first half, but then showed us his attacking skills in the second creating some great chances and driving the team forward right until the end.
Today was the best overall team performance from start to finish for the Yellows this season. The coaches were super proud of them all - well done Yellows!
