NMJFC U9's Hornets V Whaley Tigers - 3/3/24

🤫 Silent Support Weekend 🤫 was back and our lads love this date in the calendar as it allows them the freedom to communicate more amongst themselves and organise eachother vocally, particularly when defending.

They showed us once again how far they have come as a team and as the coaches remained silent (Well, almost…) the players were finding solutions and making it happen on the pitch.

Most impressively, each one of them took it upon themselves whilst being sub, to instruct the team and encourage them from the side-lines. The boys were taking it in turns to be coach and it was great to see them believing in each other.

This Whaley team proved to be tough opposition and they have some very good players that caused us problems at times.

Both Fenn & Ollie M were up against some familiar faces and they both did themselves proud.

Maestro Albie is in great form and ended up bagging a Hat-Trick 🎩  🪄

Oliver B was working hard and showing the tough side of his game by not allowing the opposition a moment to breathe when in their own half. This hard-work was creating opportunities for our wide defenders to load up their missiles and launch the attack on the Whaley goal.

Frankie🚀🚀 & Ronan🚀🚀 should be very grateful of Oliver B’s work-rate as both were rewarded a couple of times due to the pressure, not only Olver B applies, but Albie & Ollie M too.

The attacker chased down everything and made it very difficult for The Tigers to get out their own half.

At the back we were solid. Fenn in goal was switched on and when called upon was up to it. Fenn was clearing the ball out from the back with his feet and displaying all the skills necessary to be a modern keeper.

Finners and Oliver L looked comfortable passing the ball around the defence and with Frankie & Ronan also rotating the defensive positions, we looked like a brick-wall! I know our lads at the back are itching to get forward and score goals and they do! Most impressive of all, is the discipline they all show in making sure they fulfil their own role first. Amazing for a group of Under 9’s.

Player Of The Match went to Oliver B 🏆 Being completely honest, he started the game a little lethargically and knowing his Grandparents had made the long trip ‘Up North’ to watch him, this may have added a little pressure. A quick word in his ear and as ever, Oliver B responded. He was everywhere! There wasn’t a blade of fake grass on that pitch, he didn’t cover👏🏻

Tremendous performance from The Hornets – Only 3 more games to go.
