Last week saw a last minute cancellation for our trilogy against Chapel Town, 1-0 to storm Darragh. 👎🏼
This week we came up against Chinley Junior's who gave us a tough test earlier in the season and after not training for the past 2 weeks the message from the coaches was simple... "work hard for eachother and enjoy yourselves".
The parents were in for a treat!
We welcomed Myles back this week after being out on loan for our last match and he wasted no time in helping himself to a first half hatrick! He's deadly infront of goal but this season he's added more layers to his game by getting stuck in when we need him to, big up Myles!
Our silent assassin Ryan ran riot on the left wing all game and was unlucky not to score, his first half strike giving the parents whiplash when it pinged off one post to the other and out for a goal kick!
Mia had another strong game this week, time and time again she found space and carried the ball forward, she's had a great start to the season and settled in with the team brilliantly, well done Mia!
We had Max and Teddy at the back keeping their forwards quiet, they have formed an awesome partnership this season, always talking to eachother, when one goes... the other sits back.
These two are Mr reliable, they either have a good game or a great game, they never let us down.
It can be a lot of pressure when your the coaches Son's but they say pressure makes diamonds and these two are shining this season, keep it up lads!
We've been incredibly lucky to have Finn back for the last few games, yet again it was another selfless performance, he didn't let Chinley settle. After encouragement from the coaches in the 2nd half to "go on your own Finn" he did just that, Chinleys keeper was having a blinder but he didn't stand a chance when Finn danced his way through their defence and rifled one into the top corner!
Ned showed us another side to his game this week, crunching tackles are his speciality but he carried the ball out from the back and played some brilliant forward passes. Coach Tom has worked with Ned on playing the ball safe and down the line and his development is there for all to see, keep it up Ned!
Reuben had a quiet first half between the sticks thanks to our solid defence but when called upon in the 2nd half he stepped up, sprawling down low to tip a goal bound shot around the post! Back to his feet with a big smile he welcomed the pat on the back from his team mates.
Aiden was much more involved again this week, his unique warm up style of lying down starfishing on the sideline keeps coach Joe on his toes but when called upon he was ready! He was full of enthusiasm and chased the ball down with determination in his eyes which brought cheers from the coaches and parents!
Word on the street was Harrison had an extra weetabix this morning because that boy didn't half put a shift in! As soon as Chinley played the ball out he was off, chasing their defenders down and winning the ball back. He missed a few chances early on but he never stopped and after dropping deeper in the second half he worked his socks off for his team mates. Like Mia, he's had a great start to the season so far and settled in effortlessly with the kids. He was our well deserved player of the match, taking home the trophy and a well earned hot dog from the butty van.
Well done to all the kids and parents, it's been a brilliant start to the season and a great way to finish 2024, time to enjoy the festivities and hopefully find out if Smithy said "yes" to Ness!
See you in the new year Millers! 💛🖤
