Match report NMJFC U 9s Falcons - 22/01/23
The Falcons lined up against Buxton Young Bucks U9’s this morning at Glossopdale.
Confidence was high after the last couple of performances and the team were keen to build on that today.
The game started and both teams were trying to get hold of the ball. The Falcons didn’t start as well as they have in the last couple of games and took a little while to get into their rhythm. Chances at both ends in an open first half with nothing between the teams.
A regroup at half-time, a couple of changes and the messages were clear - when we attack we needed to move the ball quicker, pass the ball sooner and use the space.
The team totally took this on board and the second half was a totally different game. The Falcons created chance after chance, playing some fantastic passing football and with a great level of energy.
Overall, another positive performance from the Falcons today. An amazing team effort and continuing to show how they are developing as a group.

Special mention to today’s captain Rowan. Since joining the team at the start of the season, Rowan has grown so much in a short space of time. A real team player, his attitude and effort are amazing every week and today was no exception. Another excellent performance in defence today.
But our player of the match today was our goalkeeper, Oscar. Oscar has worked really hard on all aspects of his game this season. After some excellent saves in the first half, the stand out moment came right at the end of the game. Concentration for a goalkeeper is so important and after a period where the Falcons were camped in the opposition half, they sprung an attack and with their attacker through on goal, Oscar came out and produced an amazing save. A brilliant example of staying switched on and concentrating.
Well done Falcons - you were all ace today. Roll on next week!
