Match Report NMJFC U U12 girls vs Tintwistle - 02/11/24

Having narrowly beaten Tintwistle earlier in the season we knew this would be another close game this week. The squad were missing a number of key players however the girls battled hard and made this an exciting game to watch.

With Millie away we needed someone to step up and have a go in goal. Ella volunteered and was absolutely amazing, making some good saves and coming off her line when needed. Well done Ella.

Tintwistle are a tough team to play against. They are tight at the back and very dangerous on the break with long though balls. Our defence needed to be on it and they all did well. Erin and Evie were particularly good defensively all game. 

In truth there was little between the sides all game. New Mills just about shaded the first half and had the better of the chances. However a freak goal put Tintwistle ahead at the break.

Within about 30 seconds of the restart New Mills were level. A good pass from Florence sent Lily D away who slid the ball past the keeper. This spurred Tintwistle on who started to become more threatening going forward. Midway through the second half their forward broke clear and put them back into the lead.

Last 10-15 minutes and the Millers pushed for an equaliser. We had corner after corner but couldn’t find a way through. Eventually the pressure paid off when the ball deflected into the net

Final score 2-2, a fair result.

A few good performances today but the Player of the Match trophy went to Esmee whose dribbling and skill on the wing was brilliant all game.
