U13’s Boys
New Mills 6
Richmond 5
This was a great game of football played in great spirit. The Millers started fast, slick passing, positive attitude and it was like the boys decided this was the start of the season after a couple of tough games to welcome them to the top league this year.
After some great attacking football the Millers it was disappointing to concede the first goal with the visitors breaking down the left before lobbing the keeper from distance.
Unfortunately playing in full side goals it’s harder for the keepers this season as over the past three weeks I’ve noticed the keeper can’t even jump to touch the crossbar… but that’s the same for both teams.
The boys regrouped and it was’nt long before they were level with Oli F coming in from the right to control a cross and smash the ball to the back of the net. The goals started to flow as both teams pushing forward and the Millers added two more before half time with goals from Hazza and Harry F to have the game 3-3 at the break.
The second half was more of the same more great defending, fast movement through the midfield and plenty of chances.
Harry F added his second of the match before Remo turned his goal providing performance into goal scoring collecting a brace for themself giving New Mills a one goal advantage with five minutes remaining.
The defenders stayed strong with some great defending, goal line clearances in the last few moments of the game to give the Millers their first win of the season.
The “brainmat men of the match” of the match went to Remo and Max. Well done boys.
