Match Report NMJFC U11s girls - 20/01/24
U11 girls vs Chapel
The girls looked to continue their good run of performances in a local derby versus chapel. Unfortunately the weather was terrible with wind, rain and cold conditions making it difficult for both teams.
The Millers started well and immediately created chances with Lily getting forward well and going close. About 5 minutes in and the ball fell to Isla who volleyed it in to score. That’s 3 goals in 3 games for Isla.
This gave the girls a boost and the football for the rest of the half was great. Elsie caused problems for the opposition defence and was on hand to score a couple. More goals followed from the boot of Emily; one from distance and one from a dangerous Brooke corner. Defensively Erin and Tallulah were strong and won numerous tackles to stop chapel on the break.
Second half and you could tell the weather was taking its toll on both teams. The girls continued to battle hard and a couple more goals arrived, Elsie again was a threat and was on hand to complete her hat trick.
Brooke was impressive today but had no luck whatsoever in front of goal. She hit both the post and the cross bar and also forced the Chapel keeper into making some good saves.
All the girls were good again today, especially given the weather
Florence was a stand out performer. She won plenty of tackles but it was her passing that really impressed.
Florence was just beaten to the player of the match trophy by Emily🏆 who worked really hard, won tackles and scored 2 good goals. She even finished the game in goal, allowing Millie have a run out of goal.
Well done girls
