Match Report NMJFC U12 Yellows Boys 4 v FC Bluestar Comets 4. 14/12/24 - Stockport Metro - Mainoo League

The boys had their first visit to The Mike Doyle Centre, the home of Reddish North End FC. What a lovely venue and both teams played their part in a fantastic game.

The game was played at a high tempo and was an open end to end game of football. The Millers found  themselves two down within ten minutes but didn’t panic. The lads calmed the storm and it wasn’t long before Jimmy finished nicely from a lovely through ball from Harry P to get one back for the Millers.

Again the Millers seemed to sit back after this and invited FC to attack from the back and again we were punished, maybe unluckily but nonetheless we found ourselves 4-1 down.

Not a team to give up the lads raised their game knowing they needed a goal before half time and that goal came from a sweeping pinpoint passing move from the back to the front and Harry P was there with the perfect strike to make it 4-2 at half time.

Tightening up a few things at half time, the lads were determined to cut out the mistakes and get something out of the game.

Oli C while pulling off some excellent saves also push out to act as a sweeper too. This allowed the full backs Joseph and Brodie push up and play a high line which they played superbly catching FC off side numerous times and frustrating the opponents.

Oli F, Tyler and Lucas used the wings more to push forward and opened up the play.

Midfielders Remo, Bobby, Jimmy and Harry P were everywhere today, battling so hard all over the pitch.

The Millers‘s determination was rewarded with a free kick on the edge of the box which was definitely on the way to the top corner only for a handball which resulted in a penalty. This was calmly finished by Harry P.

With five minutes to go, it was all New Mills pushing forward to get that equaliser. All the boys were touch perfect and when asking the referee at a New Mills corner now long was left and been told 15 seconds; everyone went up for the corner. With 9 players in attacking positions a long ball corner fell perfectly for Bobby to lob the ball into the opposite corner to give the Millers a well deserved draw.

I cannot finish this report without mentioning a superb display of refereeing. The referee was brilliant today and discussed and explained every decision to the players.  He was also wearing a referees kit which I have not seen too many times this season.

The ‘brainmat’ men of the match was Bobby & Harry P. Well done boys, amazing display today.
