Match Report NMJFC U12s girls - 04/11/23
NMJFC u12 girls Vs Macclesfield Town Ladies
Coaches panicking stuck in traffic on the way to this match, but it was smiles for us both turning up to see the girls were on the pitch, had organised themselves and were warming up without instruction.
Bit of a different vibe to today’s game with New Mills a little on the back foot, standing off and a general feeling that Macc had the upper hand, the opposition then opened the scoreline ten minutes in where it stayed until the half time whistle.
The Millers girls played a defensive first half which hasn’t been our usual style so far this season, they halted play waiting for decisions to go their way. Maybe learnt from this to play to the ref’s whistle even with a couple of questionable official decisions, it happens.
First half a bit deflating for some but they rallied for each other in half time talks, dug deep and went back out with renewed vigour.
The competitive side of them came out in the second half as we gained control of the game, again some great passing in tight areas. Thoughtful decisions which we look to improve on each week and, more importantly, resilience, resulting in Ellie levelling the score, great goal.
The pressure was on, our girls were awarded a throw in and with a toss up of who to take, Lily came from her defensive position with a great throw into the box for Scarlett to hammer it home from the back post.
The WHOLE team worked hard to push that result across the line and we couldn’t be more proud of them.
Evenly matched sides yet they grafted and supported each other and secured themselves the points, leaving us joint top of the table!
Our player of the match today went to Izzy in that central defensive role, calm, helped others, made it difficult for the Macc striker to get through which without doubt had an impact on the result, well done!
