Match report NMJFC U12s Vs Poynton Whites - 13/11/22

Today's Remembrance Day game started with an impeccably observed minutes silence.

The u12s however seemed not to remember their passing game from last week with Poynton starting the match very much on top. Only some great keeping from Dillan and some last-ditch tackles from Cary and Joel kept the score 0-0 at half time.

The second half was a different story. Joel moved into midfield with Ben dropping back to defence. Out of the blocks quick, pressing as a unit and looking for more 1-2s gained their first goal. It came from Lewis with a cheeky chip over their keeper. 1-0, but Poynton still looked dangerous.

Another goal was definitely needed if they wanted to see this one out. However, it was 2 that came in quick succession. Bogdan showing great determination to bundle one home before Lewis got his second and the pick of the bunch with a sublime strike into the top corner.

Some more great defending and saves from Dillan kept a spirited Poynton at bay. Ollie M deservedly got on the goal sheet late on to top off a great second half display. I'm sure the coaches would like me to attribute that change to an inspirational half time team talk, but I think the lads took on a lot themselves at times in the 2nd half.

Ben, playing in an unfamiliar role in defence, was outstanding. At 1-0 and nervy Toby dropped a little deeper to cover his defenders and made some great challenges. The communication was much better and more importantly much more positive to each other.

Today's J TAYLOR ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS man of the match was our Goalkeeper Dillan - with some superb saves keeping the Millers still in the game by half time and when called on in the 2nd half Dillan was equal to any challenge, well done 👏🏻

Today was another example of that old footballing adage that football is a game of 2 halves.

3 wins on the bounce now for u12s and as predicted earlier in the season, keep playing the football and results will look after themselves.

Well done lads, be proud of your recent achievements
