Match report NMJFC u15s v Chapel - 30/10/22
Midday kick off in New Mills saw the u15s take on Chapel. The lads were quick off the mark and were rewarded with an early goal, a header nicely converted by Tom. 1-0.
2 mins later, our super goalie Logan passed the ball to Luke, who took a nice dribble and passed it to Baz who sent it in and Harvey nicked it in to make it 2-0.
4mins later, a pass in for Harvey to Max who slotted it home. 3-0. Straight from kick off, the ball was won by New Mills and sent into Harvey who got another goal. 4-0
There was continual pressure from the New Mills lads. We enjoyed lovely play from Ruben, Matheus, Declan and Tom. Great defensive play from Luke, Josh and Gene.
Pressure was on - nice piece of play between Max, Baz and into Harvey but a good save by Chapel keeper kept the score as it was. The next goal came from a
Harvey corner into the box and Tom headed it home. 5-0
A nice lead didn’t stop the boys’ desire to score more and with a nice pass from
Max to Harvey, goal number 6 for the Millers was scored by a composed Harvey into the bottom right hand corner of the net. Hat- trick for Harvey. 6-0
George, on his debut fitted in well and assisted Max who made it 7-0. 7 goals in the first half for the Millers.
The second half got under way and there was some brilliant play and enjoyable viewing for the spectators even though the weather wasn’t kind to us or the players. Most high balls were won well by the lads and when another corner was awarded, Joe got his head to it and tucked it away. A lovely reward for his efforts today. 8-0
The play was mostly in the attacking third for New Mills and the lads kept piling on the pressure. Their efforts resulted with a corner, well taken by Harvey straight into Declan who banged a volley into the net - goal!! 9-0.
Logan was dying to have a slice of the outfield action and his wish was granted! The managers decided a change of New Mills goalie was in order and Logan came outfield and Gene took the gloves.
Josh won plenty of the ball and linked up very well with his team mates. One occasion saw Josh play back out to Declan, who took a pop and got a lovely goal from range into the left hand side of the net. 10-0
Another corner in from Harvey and Max headed it home 11-0. Hat trick for Max!!!!
Throw in from Matheus and Ruben got his just deserved goal into the top left corner. 12-0. Safe hands from Gene ensured the Millers kept a clean sheet. Not to be left with just the two goals, a last minute goal saw a hat trick for Tom and an outstanding 13-0 victory for the Millers.
Some great individual performances today, yet a combined team effort, positive attitude and sportsmanship meant the team left the Rec in a happy, winning frame of mind.
Huge shout out as always to the dynamic duo Steven Longshaw and Jacob Kelly aka Jimmy who are the role models these lads need on the side of the pitch. Not forgetting the supporters who come out to cheer these lads on week in, week out. They are thriving on the support.
