Match Report - NMJFC U7 Falcons - Sunday 4th July

Destination Buxton for the High Peak JFL Cup Finals Day - and the final day of the season.

The Falcons went into Cup Finals Day knowing that there were potentially two games for them to play.

First up was Chapel Town Yellows. This was always going to be a tough game based on previous meetings this season, but the Falcons came flying out of the traps and matched their opponents in a fantastic first half of football, helped by some outstanding saves from Oscar in goal. Despite being on level terms at half-time, the Falcons started the second half slowly and struggled to get out of their half resulting in a few quick goals for the opposition. After some changes and time on the ball for the Falcons, they changed gear and the game suddenly turned on its head with a couple of quick goals. An amazing comeback was on the cards, but the Falcons narrowly missed out at the final whistle.

Special mention to Alfie who scored an outstanding hat-trick in this game ⚽️⚽️⚽️

So it was a quick regroup and drinks break and the Falcons quickly went to play their second game of the morning against Chinley Greens.

Familiar opposition for the Falcons, with recent league games against them producing very entertaining matches.

Knowing exactly how the opposition play and who their key players were, the Falcons ensured their marking and tracking was a priority. It was another very even game with both teams creating a lot of chances, with the Falcons keeper Oscar having another amazing performance. But ultimately the fresh legs of Chinley Greens was the difference in an entertaining game between these two sides.

Special mention to Poppy who scored a thunderbolt in the second half for the Falcons ⚽️ Overall, a brilliant experience for the Falcons today. Awesome atmosphere, fantastic location and very well organised. A great way to round off an amazing debut season.

Super proud of all 8 of the Falcons that have grown and developed as a team all season, while making sure they have fun and always leave the pitch with a smile on their face. Massive thank you to the parents too - training and games every week is a massive commitment, but it’s days like this that make it all worthwhile.

Roll on next season!
