Match Report NMJFC U8s - 27/01/24
Today were we’re playing Buxton Young Bucks White, a team we have placed twice in recent months, with very different results.
It was our favourable 9:50 kick off at Brinnington and on pitch A meaning friends and family had the best views of the game.
A mutual agreement to play 6v6 to keep subs to a minimum was made and we started with James in goal, Rhys and Charlie T in defence, Teddy and Stanley in midfield and Charlie J as striker.
Despite earlier kick offs being our favourite, New Mills were slow to get started and the Young Bucks were really stretching the play and punishing any mistakes from the off.
It wouldn’t be long until the Young Bucks took the lead, and the boys seemed shocked.
However, this was a wake up call for them and they started to get some good passing and attacks started, with Stanley, Teddy and Charlie all coming close on goal.
All the time, the young bucks were continually pressing our defenders Rhys and Charlie T, and forcing saves from James.
Eventually we managed to break through with Stanley getting a goal.
We tried to hold on to this level and kick on but the Young Bucks had other ideas.
Stanley had had enough of this and from kick off he went on a classic run, ducking and diving between the Young Bucks and hit a well placed goal.
Time for a change with Jackson coming on and Teddy dropping into defence however the game continued as it was, both teams giving as good as they were getting and both getting another goal each before the break, ours coming from Charlie J.
We resumed after the break well and Charlie J found the net again, the boys were now trying to control the game, something that the young bucks had on the first half, building up nice play and playing with a bit more composure.
The Young Bucks came back for one more effort but moments later Stanley lifted a floating shot from far out which breezed into the net too high for the keeper.
The boys certainly gave us a few more grey hairs today but they showed so much determination to dig in and not give up.
Another great match against the Young Bucks, very competitive and fair, always a pleasure.
Some superb performances again today. We decided a joint player of the match for Rhys for his great defending and Stanley for constantly attacking and another hat trick.
Well done New Mills U8’s
