Match Report NMJFC U9's Hornets v Chinley Greens - 24/3/24

‘All good things must come to an end!’ That’s what they say, isn't it?!

But why should they?!

The only thing that was actually coming to an end at the weekend was The Hornets time at Glossopdale. These boys have outgrown the nest and need to spread their wings further so they will find themselves in the Stockpot Metro League next season. Hopefully a tough test for this phenomenal group who have gone from strength to strength this season.

At the start of this season, as coaches, we asked the boys if they could go on a successful run of games. We were confident as a team that they could dominate but didn’t want their abilities to decline and we were very conscious of making sure they had the right mind-set for every match.

Nobody could have possibly expected what we have been privileged to this year - ‘A Perfect Season’!

We knew the job in hand for our final league match and although this weekends opposition were in fine form, the Hornets got to work early and it was a case of ‘Steadying the Ship’ & allowing those pre-match nerves to settle so the boys could complete the season-long mission.

Once again, our Maestro was at it! Albie 💥 had tucked his shirt in and was on his A-Game grabbing a first-half Hat-Trick. Ollie M was at it too, with a real strikers goal! Albie then topped off a great first half with a wonderful strike and The Millers were cruising.

Second half was all about Fenn. This lad has taken to our team like a duck-to-water in his first competitive season. As influential as anyone else in the squad, Fenn has contributed hugely to the remarkable run the Hornets are on. He is also the only one not to have registered a goal so far and we tried our best to find one but it just wasn’t to be this time!

Albie finished the job off in style and in another currency, he had two match balls! Incredible Albs!

When the final whistle was blown, there was a moment to reflect on the achievements the boys have created through their pure desire, work-rate & a massive will to win! The team spirit is evident for all to see. These boys go to battle every weekend and they were presented with a medal each to remind them of what you can do when you all pull together.

We are so proud of you all 💛🖤⚽️

As coaches, we would like to say a massive thank you to our parents! This whole team have a bond now that is amazing to be involved in….. JUST ASK OUR MUM’S! Some of whom were out celebrating 🍾 til very late on Sunday night.

Buxton Athletic next on 🏆Finals Day🏆

Another chance for a trophy & post match celebrations 🥳 Make mine a double🤞
