Last game of the season for us.
New Mills u10s Girls Vs Marple Athletic
I felt really emotional about today’s game. Full team out and in force!
Focussed and determined and their first game with spectators which was lovely, thank you for the support. The girls did everyone proud today, they have come so far in the games we have got to play this season. Some nice little skills from our midfield players today, Brooke you take no prisoners and continue to get that ball to the feet of players in front. A cracking first goal by our Freya L ⚽, who tried multiple times to get more shots away, keep doing that, you always look so surprised but you’re spot on with taking those chances! Mention to Jaz who tried and tried to get through their defenders today, midfield work today resulted in the goals, Jaz you take on board what you’ve been shown in training once and put it into all of yours games, good work.
When you sit back and watch their game and the way they play it for themselves you can see the decisions they make for themselves, you can see the things they have worked hard at each week in training, you can see how they have gelled as a team and both myself and Paul can’t wait for them to take on the next season together! It has been noticed by others at the venue how well they have played!
Some great saves by Nayia first half and despite that 1v1 with Marple’s striker and the look of sheer panic and her shout of “oh no” she managed to boot the ball out with a great cheer from the team and spectators, I’m definitely going to tease her about that in the future. “Oh noooooo” haha.
No hanging about for New Mills and again, ace passing and a shot at goal and a fumble from the keeper, our Phoebe ⚽ took advantage of the opportunity and popped it in the back of the net – well done, calmly earnt that one Phoeebs!
No shortage of play at each end made for a great game to watch. Another goal by our Ava ⚽, who had a tough game today as it looked like Marple were sticking to her like glue. Our Freya B frustrated today as it was hard work to get that ball to her feet, it’s a full team game Freya, all of you put in the effort today and sometimes it is frustrating but you all played as a team to get that win today!
Great thinking by all our defenders today, our Bella coming out to ward Marple off and our Jay with spot on marking. Marple managed to scrape one back before half time.
All of them super keen to play the game today. Lily in net for a busy second half and her fabulous kick to hoof the ball up the pitch, one of our youngest and most serious of game faces, you did great!
Around 10 minutes to go and Freya B took a clatter off two players leaving Nayia ⚽ to take the shot and boot it home with a fantastic free kick – she said she was saying in her head what Paul has been teaching them in training… two steps back and… (the rest is top secret)..😁
The girls took their medals and a trophy today and showed respect to all other teams ending our first season in the league on a huge high.
As always, be proud of yourselves as much as the rest of us are oh and clean your boots ready for Tuesday ! 😜
Couple of parents chose the Girl of the match today, for that free kick – Nayia. 🏆
For me, a real *TEAM* win today. #yesgirls #upthemillers #girlscan
