NMJFC u11s Girls Vs Stockport County.
Beautiful morning for a game of football today against a very well organised, physical Stockport team. Straight out of the blocks, an early opener for our Freya B who was nothing but determined to prove a point. We started well with attacking play but became increasingly frustrated as Stockport passed the ball between them beautifully and went into half time thinking they were comfortably ahead. Some frustration in that first half and a little standing off waiting for Stockport to make a move meant reflection in the half time chat and how they were going to face it in the second. Once again, the girls pulled up their socks and went out with a better mentality. Both our Freya’s today given the task of sticking to Stockport’s goal scorer which they did superbly. Freya L all over the pitch and winning tackles – well thought out and strong for your team. Both our defenders having to work hard today, Jay with some great communication and Bella brave in putting on pressure, forcing players to make mistakes and clearing away – well done, you both had to work hard today. It was beautiful to watch the partnership between our Captain Ava and Freya B in the second half and persistence paid off with Ava’s assist notching up Freya’s goal tally. Stockport following shortly after but we kept up flow and worked hard for each other.. Freya L closing the scoreboard for the mini Millers which brought about the final whistle. Happy girls, and so they should be, another 10 minutes play would’ve been a whole different story. Super proud, even though the girls would’ve liked to take home the victory they were happy and pleased with their own performance which is what it’s all about! Our girl of the match was Freya B, you certainly dug deep today and used past weeks frustrations to fuel the fire! Everything you did today was exactly what we’ve been waiting for, self-belief. Well done. #YESGIRLS #NMJFC
