New Mills u12s v Disdbury u12
The Millers were back at home this weekend hosting Didsbury, this was the first time the teams had met and what a game it was.
The Millers started the game positively and found themselves in front early on with some good football, passing, moving and working for each other very well. They continued to play and put Didsbury under pressure and again put the ball in the away teams net.
This seemed to give the away side abit of a spring in their step and they started pushing the Millers back and creating chances, some good saves from Theo in goal kept them out but eventually they broke through, netting a couple of goals so the teams went in level at half time.
The 2nd half began with both teams trying to break the deadlock. Didsbury were awarded a penalty and converted, 3-2 Didsbury. The Millers seemed to drop off a little bit when they went behind but Didsbury continued to grow into the game and scored a few more goals without reply and were leading 6-2 with 15 minutes to go. The Millers got their heads back in the game and all started to put a shift in, more good football and passes in behind the away teams defence. The Millers were not out of the game yet and scored 3 rapid goals to make it 6-5 with not long left on the clock. Somehow Didsbury moved forward and fired the ball in the net to make it 7-5, the Millers kept going but the time was up. Some great goals for the fans on the day. Brilliant performance from the lads. Well done all.
Joseph Tyrell’s goal was the pick of the bunch, an absolute screamer hitting the underside of the bar and bouncing in the net.
Macca worked his socks off at left back he was just pipped by Bobby to man of the match. All the lads are getting better each week and improving game by game.
Go again next week boys.
