Match report NMJFC Under 12s girls vs Stockport County Vs 18/03/23
Ava, our Captain for today, led us out to face a fired-up Stockport side. Seemed to take our girls some time to settle in and then becoming increasingly frustrated with so many decisions which stopped the flow of the game and left us trailing 2 nil in the first half.
A motivational half time chat and the girls went back out with the mindset they were still in the game. Wasn’t long before the Millers girls were pushing forward & a calmer, better spaced play ensued.
Freya L in a 1v1 with County’s keeper who came out well to meet her but looked up to find the back of the net and bring us one step closer.
Again, the opposition struck back but the New Mills side were not done and again Freya L beating defenders in the box for a brace, that second goal was sweet! Awarded a free kick and the perfect opportunity for Freya B to show off her skills, effortlessly floating the ball above the wall and curling it towards the top right corner but unfortunately we just couldn’t get on the end of it, a brilliant ball none the less!
Another shout to our persistent Ellie who is probably one of our most competitive, yet hard on herself players, and was unfortunate to not up her goal tally today, the determination is great to watch. Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s coming!
Going to dedicate this match report to Delilah who again stepped into goal and has been practising in her spare time. Saved too many to count today and shows improvement each week. Both coaches, spectators & more importantly your teammates were impressed!
2 POTM today, one for tirelessly working for her team, strength & bravery in the box, the other for her tenacity, dedication outside of weekly training plus some great saves too.
Freya L & Delilah – well deserved!
