You would have thought Christmas had come early, such was the excitement at Glossopdale this morning, with the second derby match of the season between the Yellows and NMJU7 Blacks. It was also a first derby for the new coaches, Matthew (Yellows), Phil & Scott (Blacks).
Like the first match in October, the first half was a close and tense affair with both teams cancelling each other out. The only difference was a well taken goal by Rocco ⚽️ who slotted one in off the post late in the half for the Yellows. Both keepers had a quiet first half, with only a few chances at either end. The midfield cancelling each other out with some great tackling by the Yellows defence.
The second half burst into action, and the Yellows found themselves on the back foot after a quick fire brace from the Blacks (the first a wonderful goal from distance). As with all derby matches, both teams were committed with their tackles and the fantastic vocal support from the travelling spectators played their part too.
The Blacks strength in attack continued to show in the second half, but the Yellows carried on fighting and were rewarded with another goal when Ronan burst forward and fired in from a tight angle ⚽️
A great performance from both sides, making New Mills Juniors FC proud. As you can see from the photo, the whole U7 group have such a great bond with a shared desire to play, learn and have fun. Well done everyone!
