Match report NMJFC Under 7s Yellows

The first ever derby match between the Yellows and Blacks started with a tense first half, with few chances as both sides toyed with each other. The midfield cancelling each other out with some great tackling from both sides. Toby in the Yellows’ goal kept the score level with a couple of fine saves. Also, there was a controversial moment midway through when the Blacks thought they’d scored a wonderful solo goal, only to find that the Referee calling them back for a throw in after the ball had crossed the touch line at the beginning of the move.

If the first half was tense, the second half exploded into action with the Yellows taking the lead with a bang, or a thunderclap volley into the top corner by Ronan ⚽️ The Yellows kept the lead for a few minutes, but we’re under pressure by the Blacks, determined to get a goal back, which finally came. The tension kept on building throughout the second half with chances at both ends. The deadlock was broken with only two minutes to go with the Blacks taking the lead.

Was there enough time for the Yellows to get something back? No problem, a minute later they were level with Ronan scoring a second with an effort off the post ⚽️

But, it wasn’t over yet, the Yellows kept up the pressure and nearly snatched a late winner with Ronan denied his hat trick with Jacob pulling off a fine save to deny him.

All in all, a fair score with honours shared.. what a great match and well played everyone!!! Both teams did New Mills Juniors proud!!!
