Match report NMJFC Under 7s Yellows. - 10/04/22

The final match of the Yellows’ first league season was once again a thriller for all the spectators. Due to the large teams on both sides, it was agreed before the match that this final match would be 6 vs 6 (rather than the usual 5 vs 5) to allow more game-time for the players.

The Yellows were down a couple of players, but the 7 who turned up put in a fantastic performance. Another exciting game (as they always are against an excellent SK Vipers team). There were some great chances for both sides and both goalkeepers kept the scores down with some excellent saves…well done Toby!

The Yellows did manage a great goal; Ronan putting in an excellent tackle in midfield after some great pressing by him and Charlie on the Vipers’ defence, and an excellent finish into the bottom corner. Not his usual ‘Rocket’ but still a great finish. The Yellows kept on the pressure, but were unlucky not to add to the score at the end of the first half.

The second half was even better than the first; an early goal at the beginning of the half gave the yellows the advantage, but the Vipers’ started to dominate. The Yellows’ new keeper, Dylan made some excellent acrobatic saves, and the defence were kept busy, with Joshua putting in some crunching tackles.

Thank you to all the players (Charlie, Rocco, James, Ronan, Toby, Joshua, Leo, Seren and Dylan) and to their parents for turning up twice a week. We’ve had a testing year, but hopefully all have enjoyed the fantastic matches that they have been involved in and we hope it’s has helped everyone to take their minds off things for a bit. We’ve had a great season, and let’s hope we can lift a trophy in the finals day after Easter. COYY
