The Falcons were looking to build on their amazing performance last week, against Chapel Town U8 Blues.
From playing this opposition earlier on in the season, the Falcons knew they’d be up against a physical, well organised team so had to be focussed right from the start. From the first whistle the Falcons started brightly but were unlucky to concede an early goal. But with the Falcons midfield making some outstanding tackles and using the spaces down both wings, they got their reward with an excellent goal from Poppy ⚽️
Level at the break in a very even game, the Falcons knew it was going to take a huge effort to keep the momentum going in the second half. With both sides making changes, the game opened up and had a different momentum. Oscar, the Falcons goalkeeper, was called upon to make some excellent saves and the Falcons again continued to defend from set pieces excellently. As the half went on, the opposition made their attacking strength count but at the end the Falcons could hold their head up high that they matched a very strong team for large parts of today’s game.
Special mention to today’s captain Holly, who came back into the starting line-up and put in an outstanding performance in midfield. The last few weeks Holly has been working hard on her tackling, passing and marking - and she was excellent at all of these today. Well done Holly!
