Match report NMJFC Under 9s - 24/04/22

New Mills U9's V Glossop NE Red U9's

The team were super excited to get going in the end of the season High Peak League Cup Final.

The team has developed magnificently throughout the season and this was a chance to show all watching, parents and spectators what they are capable of doing.

Unfortunately, the team was several players down as Remo recovers from illness and another player failed to turn up.

The game was even as both teams were perfectly matched and made for a thrilling watch.

The first half saw chances from both teams but the Mini Millers looked the most threatening to break the deadlock.

Second half saw the kids quick to continue where they left off. The team produced some fantastic attacking opportunities and held the back line brilliantly.

The team could do nothing as a Glossop chap took the ball from the halfway line and with ease worked his way past the defence and hammered home a shot top bin.

New Mills U9's suffered defeat on paper, but they produced by far the better football, showing terrific footballing intelligence and team spirit.

We will go again and let the kids enjoy the beautiful game.
