Match report NMJFC Under 9s Hawks v Chinley Juniors - 18/09/22
It felt like a lifetime waiting for this season to begin and The Hawks were fired up for the challenge.
A minutes silence started off the days proceedings in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, with all teams paying their respects in an impeccable manner.
The game started very brightly, with New Mills looking sharp and on their toes looking to get forward and create chances. Positioning and roles within the formation on the pitch are some of the things we’ve worked on in training in the pre-season, and they took to the new format brilliantly.
A solid defensive partnership of Liam, Ella and Joe made it difficult for Chinley to get through on goal - excellent organisation shown from our defence.
Our attacking force of Bradley, Harley and Shea worked some magnificent plays to create more then enough chances to get on the score sheet, but unfortunately, it was one of those days where nothing would hit the back of the net. Kian joined forces in the second half who also had opportunities in front of goal. The woodwork was struck a number of times in todays fixture, with some fine goalkeeping from the Chinley number 1.
2 debuts for The Hawks today saw James in goal who had a huge impact on the game in the second half, a top drawer save keeping a strike from hitting the top corner from a great Chinley strike. Bradley started on the right wing for The Millers today and slotted in very nicely, some excellent link up play with Harley in front of goal could have seen him on the score sheet a couple of times on another day.
It’s great to be back, and this bunch of players always give our fantastic supporters a lot to be happy about.
Man of the Match: Joe 🏆 for his magnificent defending and work rate. Never stops this lad, an absolute engine.
Well done Hawks 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
