In what seems like an eternity since the Eagles last played, they were in good spirits for the first game of 2023 which was a big derby game against the Hawks. The Hawks are always a strong team to play against and this was no exception.
Stand in keeper and todays captain Zac was brilliant with his kick’s putting the Eagles on the attack every time, but a strong back line kept the Eagles out.
Soon the Hawks were passing the ball about and were very clinical in front of goal. Before the break the Eagles managed to score after a good move forward and they went into the break with their confidence high.
A strong talk at half time and with new instructions the Eagles came out with added energy. Also a change of keeper at half time put Hayden in goal and what a change it was. Hayden made several superb saves which had most people wondering “how did he save that!!!”
A more equal second half saw both teams have good chances at both ends. The Eagles did manage to score a second goal but overall the Hawks were too strong for the Eagles today.

Todays man of the match was Hayden who was simply fantastic in goal. He has come in this season and no matter where he plays he always puts a fantastic shift in, but today was a masterclass in goal.
Special mention to Zac as well who always volunteers to go in nets when needed and does a fantastic job.
This team has come a long way and always give 100% in every game they play. They never give up and with performances like the second half of todays game the Eagles will only get better.
