Match report NMJU9 Eagles v Chapel Blues - 22/01/23

Match report NMJU9 Eagles v Chapel Blues - 22/01/23

A tough fixture awaited us today against the blues of Chapel. They always have a strong team so we knew we would have to play well to get something and from a coaches view the players didn’t disappoint today.

Early passing and strong defensive play were soon giving the Eagles a purpose to push forward, but the back line of Chapel kept us at bay and Chapel soon put us under pressure.

Quick fire play put Chapel in the driving seat, but it could have been more but for some really strong defensive work by Hayden along with some great goalkeeping from Zac that kept Chapel from adding to the scoresheet.

The second half was a much better team performance. The Eagles managed to get the breakthrough that their play deserved when Frankie and Sami combined to score. The players putting together what we teach them, and at that point in the game a well deserved goal.

The Eagles had confidence now and pushed forward more but couldn’t get the breakthrough they deserved.

Chapel kept their game together and always proved a threat in front of goal.

Absolute superb play from Hayden in defence and Zac in goal today kept the score down. Also aided with strong running from the rest of the team who were quick to try and get forward.

It wasn’t to be today but from the coaches point of view, the players put on a great show today, working on their defensive play, they will start to reap the benefits soon.

Goal today from Sami ⚽️.

Huge mentions today for Hayden and Zac. Both were superb today and as we couldn’t split them for player of the match we gave it to Sami for his goal.

A really solid team performance today. One that us coaches were proud of today.

Finally I would like to say good luck to Gav who is moving on from coaching the Eagles. Without your help we would not be where we are today.

Keep going Eagles 🦅
