The Millers made the short journey over to Reddish and were determined to continue a strong start in the EMJFL.
The coaches changed the team shape for this game and quickly realised the game plan was not going to work playing against a strong wind from storm “Amy” which meant playing the ball on the floor was the only way to approach this game.
The Millers started fast and Darragh and Bertie were having success on both wings fed superbly by intelligent midfield play from both India and Jess who were recovering possession and playing forward with great efficiency.
Mayson and Greg linked play well and several early chances went behind where the composed finished was missing early on.
The back lines of Alfie, Fletch, Alex and Cole were strong in the tackle and winning their battles well.
Archie was as sharp off his line and talking well to make sure chances were limited for the Reddish attack.
The Millers broke the deadlock with Darragh finishing well into the bottom corner after great wing play from Bertie.
Bertie then went central with Greg taking his position out wide as the Millers tried to force Reddish back with their constant pressure.
Bertie latched onto a superb through ball and calmly lobbed the keeper for a two goal lead. Darragh got his second goal of the game with another calm finish into the corner of the goal.
The Millers were now in full control and Alex was joining the attacks more frequently. After some decisive passing Alex arrived at the edge of the box and drilled home a low shot for an excellent team goal and a 4 goal lead at the break.
Stan came on at the break with Dan and both played good halves, Stan with solid defending and great passes out from the back. Dan was battling hard and linking up play well.
The Millers continued to attack in the second half with energy and purpose.
After another mazy dribble from Darragh he delivered a cross which Dan was waiting to tap in but was knocked home by a Reddish player before it reached Dan.
Mayson playing a bit deeper in the second half burst through on goal showing power and pace as he scored from distance leaving the keeper no chance.
Mayson then got his second of the game meeting a corner with clever header into the corner of the goal. Alex who had been strong defending all game then got forward and delivered a superb cross which Greg calmly side footed home to complete the scoring.
A superb team performance today with high quality football played with the team tireless in their work ethic and getting their rewards for their efforts out into the game.
Many players could have took player of the game as Jess and Indi bossed midfield all game but the coaches decided Alex was taking the award for his superb contribution.
A great game to watch In tough conditions.
The coaches were delighted with the performance from the group.
Keep working hard Millers 💛🖤
