A nice Sunday for football, not too warm, not too chilly ….. but during the match we had blasting sun and then torrential rain.. so we endured all sorts today. Coach Jordan was away running the Chatsworth 10k raising money ……

Again, we had a full house, although David was a little under the weather, so we needed to be careful with how much football he could manage.
Hayfield kicked off, and as they always are, against our local rivals, the game was fiercely battled in defence, midfield and attack.
The Scorpions started brightly with Rocco T having an early shot, next up was Leo to test the Hayfield keeper who had a great game. A fierce battle it was, New Mills won a foul quite far out… up stepped Ted and let fly a rocket 🚀 ⚽️
This was end to end stuff. Great work from Alfie who crossed delightfully to Rocco T for him smash home ⚽️ Ted who was asked to play more defensively today was bossing the midfield. He threaded a great pass through to Alfie who knocked it home ⚽️
Frankie was busy in the Scorpions goal parrying shots and commanding his defenders. One thing we’ve been working on is Frankie rushing off his line and he did this more than once today 👍🏻
Will, Callum, Rocco K and David were strong in defence and looking to play the ball forward. Once or twice we had to chase back as the Hayfield number 9 was super quick. Our wingers were looking for the ball at every opportunity to push forward and create chances. Dylan on the right and Leo on the left were always looking to press and take their players on.
Second half and it was 100 miles an hour right from the off .. Frankie again was called into action, whilst Ted set Leo up who shot just wide. Ted was a constant threat and set Rocco T off who smashed home his second of the game ⚽️ at the death Frankie the Cat made an unbelievable point blank save.
A great end to end spectacular…an extravaganza today, all friends at the end of the game. Our player of the match today was Dylan for his unbelievable work rate up and down the wing, constantly looking for a killer pass and getting stuck in when he needed to.
