NMJFC U8's Hornets V Whaley Bridge Tigers - 08/01/23
This weekend The Hornets had an 8:45am kick-off time in at Glossopdale after what had been an exceptionally sad few days for the entire New Mills community. Things off the pitch effected the whole of our town but in particular, some of our parents.
Luckily football has an incredible way of distracting you when life is tough and this weekend The Hornets brought happiness back with the most explosive performance so far this season!
As coaches we went through the Pre-Match Warm-Up as we normally do and both of us were concerned about how lethargic the boys appeared to be. We set-up slightly differently to normal and once again these kids showed us how they never let you down.
Frankie took the gloves & went in goal. He ensured we had a solid base to build on. Oliver L was at the back on his own but never missed a tackle & made sure he played the ball out from the back. We have three Oliver’s in this team and it can get very confusing at times but all 3 of them made a massive impact on the game. Ollie M was straight in there and was beginning to give us as coaches a whole world of problems! We can only pick 4 outfield players and Ollie is becoming a fabulous footballer. Ollie M was turning the opposition inside & out and managed to grab a couple of goals. This lad as come on unbelievably over the last few months and his confidence is growing through the roof! Well done Ollie M.
Albie was running riot once again and he has learnt the benefit of spreading that ball around. This is a gift you have Albie and you are amazing at it! Our Kevin De Bruyne.
Second-Half our maestro once again offered to go in goal. Albie is becoming a real team player and he spent the rest of the morning celebrating his birthday weekend. Hopefully, receiving some gifts.
Second half Ronan came into his own. Digging deep and once again providing opportunities for the rest of his team. Rocket is another who has added more qualities to his game and once again he displayed them today setting up goals! He is tracking back and winning tackles.
Oliver B & Frankie were linking up like there was no opposition and the goals followed. Oliver B was on fire today!
This was another outstanding performance and we were complimented again by the match officials about the style of play that the football is being played.
The biggest shout-out has to go to Finley - This little lad has a bravery well beyond his years! He started as sub but managed to show us coaches we have no idea what we’re talking about as produced the most outstanding performance! Two unbelievable goals that changed the game!
Player of the Match – Finners!
Well Done Mini-Millers – You produced a performance that made your parents smile…… That’s exactly what we needed! ❤️
