Match Report NMJFC U7's V Chapel Colts - 11/2/24

It was all very ‘eerie’ at Glossopdale this weekend. It was extremely foggy and the flood-lights were on for our morning kick-off against Chapel Colts, as this tremendous group of Mini-Millers began a trilogy of fixtures against our friends at Chapel Town JFC.

The drive to the venue was also strange as the lack of visibility on the tops made it tough to see. I was hoping this wouldn’t be the case on the pitch for the boys and that they would have a clear view on the passing game we had practiced in training.

We started in goal with Reuben who never put a foot wrong. He was composed and ready for everything that came his way and offered to go in goal again for some the 2nd half aswell. Max was ready this morning. He won his tackles and started making those amazing runs forward as he created The Mini-Millers attacks. Max is beginning to have all the qualities of a great player.

On the wings we rotated 3 of the boys – Myles, Teddy & Ryan. Finn was reaping the benefits and hit the back-of-the-net on multiple occasions ⚽️💥⚽️💥⚽️

The Millers were dominant! Ned was also understanding his job and when called upon, Ned won every tackle! Aiden did he's spell in goal and the coaches are looking forward to getting Aiden outfield aswell – Just to test that strike of his.

Second half was a little more tense and although The Mini Millers were scoring goals again, we just didn’t look like a team.

This is something we need to work on in training. We have a great group & we will train this Half-Term and we’ll make sure everyone understands the Coaches instructions and the style of play we intend to display. We are a team of mixed abilities but it is essential every member of the squad gets to play their part.

Ryan was our Player of the Match🏆

He is an outstanding little player and genuinely seems to be coming out-of-his-shell now and when he has that ball at his feet, nobody can stop him! Ryan was all over the pitch, chasing back aswell as setting up attacks.

A great result and even better, we have loads of room to improve! A couple of very exciting games on the horizon and we can’t wait to return to Glossopdale after the break.

 💛⚽️🖤⚽️
