Match report NMJFC U9 Hawks v Buxton Young Bucks - 29/01/23

The Hawks were in good spirits ahead of this weekends fixture in the High Peak Junior Football League at Glossop, and they certainly showed it on the pitch.

A bright start from The Millers saw us create loads of chances right from the whistle, with attack after attack towards the Buxton goal.

A superb long range free kick smashed the back of the net courtesy of our captain and anchor at the back Liam Smith.

A tight back line bolstered by Shea and exceptional work in midfield from Joe and Ella, made it very difficult for Buxton to find any real chances.

Kian played in goal for the first half and when called upon made some crucial saves to keep Buxton out.

The second half showed us more of the same, with intensity levels reaching a new peak. Kian showing his fire power for The Hawks yet again, rifled in a volley off the underside of the crossbar which crossed the line and bounced back out - no VAR needed for this one, thunderous goal!

Following more great work from Bradley who put a real shift in, came a masterful solo goal came courtesy of Harley, who picked up the ball deep in his own half from goalkeeper James and went on to beat 4 of the opposition and calmly slot past the Buxton number 1.

A display of solid work to hold on to the game and grind out the final moments, was a real show of character for The Millers who deserved all of the applause today for their efforts.

Man of the match: Kian 🏆 for goalkeeping heroics in the first half, a wonderful goal in the second half and an incredible block deep into the second half to keep a Buxton strike from hitting the back of the net.

Top performance Hawks 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
