5th February Stockport County Vs NMJFC
What to say about this game…well, plenty of supporters out in force for the mini-Millers this morning and most of them agreed it was the best game the girls have played to date! Pretty much toe to toe the whole game and took the Stockport side by surprise!
Their work ethic within this game was outstanding, they communicated & applied the pressure throughout the whole game. Full of challenges, the girls executed some great passing under pressure and moved the ball up the pitch for Ava to seize the opportunity and find the back of the net through a very busy area, greatly celebrated by all, and kept the energy levels high at the half time whistle. They were buzzing and couldn’t wait to get back on the field. They identified the biggest threat for the opposition and Freya L was given the task of making it awkward for her but a very skilful player from, I’m led to believe, an unbeaten team, clawed some back. A great strike from Jaz who just shot wide of the post, but we loved the vision you had to have a go! New Mills had a lot to do this game and executed great defending, remembering goal side and Lily in net pointing out where she needed them to be, between them all, kept many out of our area!
Another for Ava in the second half and we were desperately looking for another.
It was not to be as Stockport secured themselves the final goal. An absolutely brilliant game to watch, leaving a happy team who were all proud of themselves and each other and showed lovely sportsmanship throughout. Our girl of the game Ava today, notching up your goal tally and beautiful passing under pressure, well done. All of them kept their heads today and get better with every game, the ones to watch – up the Millers!! Caz. Manager U11s. #yesgirls #nmjfc
