Match report NMJFC Under 11s girls - 20/11/21

20th November New Mills Juniors U11s Girls Vs Dukinfield Dukinfield are a newish team but absolutely came out of the blocks full pelt this morning, took New Mills by surprise and they were a little complacent to start off. Good energy pre-match but looked a little star struck during the game. Very defensive game for us today and lots of battles in midfield but they ploughed on and squeezed out an equaliser with a Freya L power shot for an even half time score. Some good pressing down the wing from Nayia, again Nieve you’re getting in that space for an option, keep being brave it’s working. Brooke making some great runs with ball, past her marker and taking some chances. Ava, our Captain, and side-line instructor encouraging your team, solid in midfield for us every week and getting back when needed. Some good saves by Lily in 1st half, you had lots to do today but their goal hanger sneaked one in with a gap in our defence. Bella some great coming out to meet that ball today, when you come out to meet them, you’re making a massive difference in getting the ball back up the pitch, Jay also some great power kicks to get back up the pitch but New Mills we must chase it down when our defenders have managed to get high up! Change at half time for the keepers, one through the legs in 2nd half for Nayia, again a few of us standing around waiting for something to happen. Another from Freya L who was not letting it slide today without blasting a hole through the back of the net!! BUT positives as usual and the things we take into training, communication spot on, grit in tackles, tough going physically but determined in those battles, taking chances when they can – the girls know, they evaluate their own game each week which is brilliant. Hard work in tight spaces for the Millers today. Well played Dukinfield, you’ve obviously been working hard and put us on the back foot, we kept it as a draw for today – well done girls.
