4th December Stockport Vikings Vs NMJFC u11s Girls
Firstly, big shout out to Stockport Vikings who absolutely had a point to prove today and they sure did that with great passing and defending. Bitterly cold morning and drizzling rain, the Millers girls were frozen solid, lost their shape and their heads in the first half. Frustrating when we’ve seen how great they play. Bursts of positivity, Jay had a fantastic game today and used our training session in her game today, you made a real difference. Although the Vikings were in front at half time with New Mills unable to find the back of the net, Lily our first half keeper also had a blinding game, great high up kicks, saves and bravery. First ten minutes, good pressing and quick off the mark but just lost that momentum leaving us trailing at the whistle. A goal disallowed for Ava which was hard to see from the coaching sidelines and you could argue the ref was swayed but fair play if the opposition supporters saw it better than us then that’s how it goes, things players need to learn and pick themselves up from. Change around for second half, again Jay keen as mustard, smiling and in the thick of the tackles got some good clearances away to deny Stockport. Brooke digging deep multiple times despite her frustration, putting pressure on their winger at every kick. Freya L, with her signature power shots, was unlucky to not have a couple more but was celebrated well from the sidelines when she found the back of the net, great attitude today,Freya. We could hear you laughing from the sidelines, we love this! Giving the Millers hope they again applied some pressure and a well worked for goal from Brooke seemed to give us hope. Brooke you kept that ball and used your skills around all of those players to find the target. Both teams miserable and cold with 15 minutes to go, the girls are to be admired for sticking it out and trying hard. Our girls of the game today – Brooke who was not giving in and resulted in a beautiful goal. When you get a sneak peek at their messages to each other, it reiterates what’s important about this beautiful game! Proud of you girls, as always! Caz
